Cappadocia makes me dream of adventures even to this day, although I traveled there in 2014. I know the name of this region refers to a 'land of beautiful horses', but to me it is more like the land of thousands of adventures, dreams and places to explore. Places such as Paşabağ, the Valley of the Monks, which is close to the village of Cavusin, only 3 kilometres from Goreme, the most popular town in this, the heartland of Turkey.
Paşabağ boasts some of the most impressive rock formations and fairy chimneys of Cappadocia, making it a perfect spot for exploring and taking some awesome pictures all along, especially because parking and entry are free.
The meaning of the name Paşabağ honours the landscape. Literally meaning the Pasha's vineyard (Pasha being a higher rank in the political and military system of the Ottoman Empire), it is surrounded by vineyards. If you have a lot of time, dedicate a couple of hours to the exploration of this valley, St. Simeon church and the mushroom-shaped rocks that are unique to this part of Cappadocia. You can almost imagine the first inhabitants of this region living isolated from the rest of the world inside the fairy chimneys when you wander around this area.
I guess I loved exploring the Valley of the Monks so much because that's what I love to do. I love to get lost, imagine, discover, learn, explore and Cappadocia is the perfect place to do all of those activities while taking in some of the most fantastic sights you'll ever see in your life.
